
University of Mauritius announces its will to lead the project that will be submitted to the ACP-EU EDULINK programme
12 Dec. 2006 - Dr ELAHEE announces the will of UoM to take the leadership on the project "Indian Ocean Network for Research and Higher Education on Sustainable Energies". The other partners would be University of Technology, Mauritius, Université de la Réunion, Université d'Antananarivo and University of Cape Town. ARER and the Mauritius Research Council would be associated as interface with the private sector and public administrations.
Dr BOUCHARD's research project is receivable for evaluation by SSHRC
12 Dec. 2006 - Dr BOUCHARD from Laurentian University submitted a research project to the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. The subject is Energy, transition theory and poverty in South-western Indian Ocean Islands. The associates are Dr ELAHEE from University of Mauritius and Franck AL SHAKARCHI, Island-NEWS manager. SSHRC has judged the project to be receivable and will give the final evaluation by April 2007.

11 Dec. 2006 - Franck AL SHAKARCHI presented the energy issue and the role that UCCIOI could have. The UCCIOI is interested in a partnership with Island-NEWS to support their actions.
Franck AL SHAKARCHI meets Mr Yohann CHAIGNEAU from SR 21
11 Dec. 2006 - A partnership is being discussed with SR 21: an organization leading Réunion Island Sustainble Development Plan. SR21 would provide Economic Intelligence to Island-NEWS.
Island-NEWS submits an INTERREG-III B project to the Regional Council of Réunion Island
8 Dec. 2006 - The project would finance two actions: the update of Island-NEWS web site and its functionalities; visits to Mauritius, Rodrigues, Madagascar and Comoros. Island-NEWS received supports from the Government of Comoros and University of Antananrivo for this submission.

5 Dec. 2006 - The proposal of actions concerning education on energy to private entrepreneurs and integration of energy considerations in the projects of airport and tourist complex.
Island-NEWS Common Framework of Energy Profiles is validated after minor modifications
3 Dec. 2006 - The validation committee suggested minor modifications to the Common Framework. These modifications were integrated and the common framework was validated. Thank you to all committee members.
